A Costume Here, You Will Not Get

Dear Millie,

Halloween will be here before we know it!  I figured I should get cracking on Halloween costumes.  My boys would like for me to make costumes for them so they can be their Mii characters from the Wii.  What a fun idea!  Employing my artistic talent, I sat down and drew up the precise design of what I feel is within my realm of sewing capability.  This looks like Kyle’s Mii character, right?

Vanessa doesn’t think so.  Why not?  “Because it just has holes in it.”  Bah.  Back to the drawing board!  I scribbled down some notes for improvement:

*Purchase Halloween costumes from Goodwill

*Pick up a frosty at Wendy’s

Pretty good list, I’d say!

I got an email from a local store recently advertising “This Halloween’s best costumes at the lowest prices!”  Well!  While I’m not happy about forking out money for what usually look like terrible pajamas, I figured I could at least take a look.  To my delight, this Halloween’s best costumes look less like pajamas and more like actual costumes!  My boys love Star Wars, so my first pick was this $40 ensemble:

Hmmm.  Not crazy about the price, but maybe that includes the lightsaber?  Then I saw it.  This might be a problem:

What the?  “Includes: Robe.”  At this point, I’m not even sure I’d be getting a Jedi robe.  Maybe a fuzzy bathrobe?  It doesn’t specify, but at least they’re clear I won’t be getting a costume with my Jedi costume purchase.

Time for some Goodwill hunting!  Hope your Halloween preparations include candy corns and The Skeleton Dance!

Much love,

Grace

P.S. Any ideas for my girls?  Vanessa would like to be Princess Aurora, but this is what she’d get:

P.P.S.  Don’t forget to make Spooky Eyeball Tacos this month!  Tradition!
